Make-up does wonders for bringing out our best features and making us look, well younger. But if you can’t do magic with your brushes and powders, here are some simpler pick-me-ups for your face.
1. New hairstyle
I love looking at before and after photos of makeovers and what interests me the most is how much the hair can age or rejuvenate the face. They say a fringe is an instant rejuvenator and, having tried both with and without, I would agree.
2. Good eyebrows
Your eyebrows add definition to your face. It is often said that your brows frame your face like a picture and they do. If you are blessed with a good shape to your brows, you are so lucky, just do the maintenance. If you need help in shaping them, book an appointment at a salon to have them waxed, tweezed or threaded.
To accentuate the brows with some colour, either pencil in and smudge to avoid a hard line, or use an angled brush with powder. Darker brows can give a hard look and not every face carries this well so if this is you, don’t go too dark on the colour. Of course, if you have a fringe like me, you can ignore all of this.
3. Eyelashes
Is it my imagination or as I get older, are my eyelashes becoming sparser? Actually no. With age, our eyelashes get thinner and sometimes less dark. Anything you can do to accentuate your lashes will make your eyes appear bigger and people tend to associate big eyes with youth.
Some people swear by lash conditioners. I don’t have the patience to wait for results so I rely on my trusty Shu Uemura eyelash curler. Tinting your lashes can be very effective. Although you can do a DIY tint-yourself-at-home kit, I wouldn’t dare. I’d always go to a salon.
